how far do you agree mrs pearson herself was responsible for her own fate

Annie Pearson, the protagonist, is portrayed as a woman with a spoiled family. She has also appeared as the sufferer throughout the course of the story, as she was an extremely sensitive and a soft hearted woman who was gullible too. Because of such an innocent and fragile persona, she was often mistreated and taken for granted by her husband and kids. Her super naive nature made her bring down her own self respect in front of her family, and she had almost forgotten to stand for herself.
She accepted getting humiliated and ridiculed every now and then in her home and thus, she was herself responsible for her own fate. It was only after meeting Mrs. Fitzgerald, that she realised of how important it was to acknowledge her self value.
