how heat is produced in room heater but not so in electric wires

The heating element of the heater glows as it blocks current from it to pass which produces heat and due to its high resistance it does not melt but produce heat and glow . the wire inside the cord allows the electricity to pass through it.

The wire carrying the current also heats up, but if it is properly sized, it will only get very slightly warm. This is because the conductor wire is made of copper and is much thicker than the heater wire, that is made of nichrome.
