How hypothalamus regulates a wide spectrum of functions in the human body?

Dear Student,

The   hypothalamus is a part of the forebrain. It is acts as a linker between endocrine and nervous systems and it helps by maintaining balance (homeostasis), releasing and inhibiting various hormones which in turn, regulates other systems and hormones (by stimulating and switching off them). It contains many areas that control the body temperature, urge for eating and drinking, etc. Some regions of the cerebrum along with hypothalamus are involved in the regulation of sexual behavior and expression of emotional reactions such as excitement, pleasure, fear, etc. Thus how it regulates a wide range of spectrum of functions of human body.
