How is a metal rim fixed around the wooden wheel of a cart?

Firstly we need to take a metal rim smaller than the size of the wooden cart's wheel then we heat the metal rim, by which the size of the metal rim increases and then we need to keep it on the wooden cart's wheel and then cool it down by which it contracts a and then we see it tightly fixed to the wooden cart's wheel.

Metals expand on heating and contract on cooling. This expansion and contraction of a metal is a reversible change. The metallic rim used is slightly smaller in diameter than the wheels of a wooden cart .On heating the rim expands. And can easily lie on the wheels. When the metallic rim cools, it contract and press tightly on to the wheels.

A metal rim is taken of nearly 0.5 or 1 cm smaller than the wooden wheel. it's then heated on the fire. The metal rim expands on heating. Then placed flat on the ground and the wooden wheel is placed inside it. Then icy water is poured on the metal rim. So, the metal rim contracts and fits tightly on the wooden wheel of the cart.
