How is catenation different from tetravalency ?

Dear Student

Catenation is the ability f carbon atoms to combine with other carbon atoms and tetravalency is the ability of carbon atoms to bond with other monovalent atoms.

Catenation is the self linking property of an element by which an atom combines with other atoms to form long chain and cyclic structures
Tetravalency is the capacity of an atom to form four stable bonds around it.
In tetravalency only four bond can be formed , but in catenation lot of bonds can be formed.
