How is 'flowery band' an example of metaphor???

Dear Student,

A metaphor is a comparison between two things, without the use of words 'like' and 'as'. It can also be implied comparison, in which a word or phrase ordinarily used to describe one thing is applied to another.

The phrase "flowery wreath" is indeed a metaphor. This doesn't refer to any actual wreath of flowers, but it is a metaphor for all things of earthly beauty, which provide us with a respite from the worries of the world.
