How is function of kidney regulated?

Hi there!!!

Kidney is the vital organ that helps in our body metabolism. Kidneys are a pair of bean shaped organs, reddish in colour, that helps our body maintain osmoregularity.

The function of kidney is regulated by Brain. It has its own primary structural organ known as nephron.

Hormone secretion, is the major reason for the regulation of kidney. The kidneys secrete a variety of hormones, including erythropoietin, and the enzyme renin.

Erythropoietin is released in response to hypoxia (low levels of oxygen at tissue level) in the
renal circulation.

It stimulates erythropoiesis (production of red blood cells) in the bone marrow.

Hope it helps you....
