How is grain and husk separated?

The grain is separated from the husk by the process of winnowing. The mixture of grain and husk is allowed to fall from a height. The grain which is heavier falls vertically down on the ground, and the husk which is lighter, is carried away by the wind and forms a separate heap at a short distance from the heap of grains.
