A cornerstone is a stone based on which the other stones are placed for a construction.

Our constitution clearly states the fundamental rights, directive principles and fundamental duties of a citizen . It has clear framed laws on justice , liberty , equality of status, fraternity. Since the constitution acts as a guidelines for the citizens as well to run the parliamentary it is called as a cornerstone in our democracy.
