how is the fate of the society linked with development in physics?

As we physics has been developed so much in recent years.Inventions of physics like mobile phones reduces difficulties of society.As in ancient years there is almost no source of communication.People used go by bicycle or bullock cart in going from one place other.But with the invention of cars,trains and aeroplanes which are inventions of physics reduces the time taken to travel.So we can say that development in physics is directly related to fate of the society.
