How it shows that the shepherd was humble and wise ?

The shepherd always carried with him his old blanket in an iron chest. He kept it with him because he felt that the king might listen to others and take away from him his new cloaks. In such a situation the shepherd would need his blanket to protect him from the weather. This act of the shepherd shows his wisdom and humbleness.
