how many maximum spectral lines can be expected in visible electronic transition from fifth shell to first shell of H2 atom of 2 atom

Dear student

Here we need to use the concept of hydrogen spectra to get the answer for the maximum number of the lines lying in the visible region. As we know the transitions are taking from n = 5 to the ground state. So if we take into account, just one atom, the total number of spectral lines will be 10.

Out of these only the lines lying in the balmer region will be visible. These are (5 to 2), (4 to 2) and (3 to 2)
so for one atom, there will be three lines and for a molecule containing two atoms there will be a total of (3)(2) = 6  visible lines.
