Lung capacity depends upon  age gender and health condition etc. On an average  an adult human can hold 3-5 litres of air.

Age is not the only determining factor for lung function size and gender are too, so the average figures for the lung depend on whether you are a boy or a girl, what your height and weight are, as well as what age you are.

Lung size by itself doesn't tell you much about your health. Other measures tell how well your lungs are working.

A person aged between 12 to 15 years old should hold three to five litres of air.
