where R = radius of earth.= 6371 km

according to question,

9.8/100 = 9.8(1-d/6371)

1/100 = 1-d/6371

6371-(6371/100) = d = 6307.29 km

6307.29 KM BELOW THE SURFACE OF EARTH ,THE ACCELERATION DUE TO GRAVITY WILL BE 1% OF ITS VALUE AT ITS EARTH SURFACE.
