The balanced equation for the preparation of  HCl gas is 

H2 + Cl2 → 2 HCl

When 2g of hydrogen reacts with 72g of chlorine it produce 74g of HCl  { molar mass of H2 is 2, Cl2 = 72 and HCl = 36}

2g of hydrogen gives  =  74g of HCl

1g of  hydrogen gives  =  74/2 g of HCl

Hence 7g of Hydrogen gives  =  74 X 7/2 g 

∴ 7g of Hydrogen will give 259 g of HCl.

72g of chlorine gives  = 74g of HCl 

∴ 1g of HCl will be produced from  =  72/74g

∴ 259g of HCl will be produced from =  72 X 259/74

Hence 252g of Cl2 would be required to produce 259g of HCl.
