How much time are we supposed to make notes on a topic in a 6 mark question and in how much words must we make notes of an extract of about 250 words

- While making notes, the given text is compressed to about 1/3 of its original (length/words) in the form of the summary.
- If the given passage is 250 words, the summary would be between 80 to 90 words, apart from the title, heading, sub-heading and key.
- Remember, the whole idea of making notes is to have a brief overview.
- As far as time is concerned, it varies from one student to the other. You need to practise many note making exercises and see what is the best time limit to follow during the exams. Divide the total time into sections, depending on the marks. then, sub-divide time allotted to each section according to the respective questions in it.

Notes should toch down to say 120 words and then the summary will be the extraction of your notes. So now it can be say 150-180 words. As i have given my half yearly so through experience i m saying that dont go through conventional time as sometimes any section can be too small or too large,, say my literature was too small. So it will be in the exam that you will note your time.
All the best!
