how r twins born

There are three types of twins born. They are Non Identical twins, Identical twins and Siamese twins.

Non Identical Twins (or) Fraternal Twins:

  • In this type, when two egg cells are fertilized by a different sperm, two embryos are formed. They can be of the same sex  or opposite sex. They don't  have to look at all alike.

Identical Twins:

  • In this type, when one egg after being fertilized by one sperm, the embryo divides into two halves. They are genetically identical. They are usually of the same sex.

Siamese Twins (or) Conjoined Twins:

  • In this type, when one egg after being fertilized by one sperm, the embryo does not separate. Hence, Twins develop attached to one another.

There are two types of twins :-

  1.  Fraternal twins:- In this two eggs are ovulated(one by each ovary) and sent into the oviduct, and when they fertilise, they give rise to fraternal twins.these twins are like siblings because they have a different DNA code.
  2. Identical twins:- When the ovum is fertilised, it forms a zygote. The zygote divides into two cells. At this stage, some times the cells don't remain attached and separate into two different cells. hese then give rise two babies. Identical twins have the same DNA code

Hope it helps !!!
