When the architect was accused of being responsible for the 'disgrace' and was being carried to the gallows, he pointed out that he was not to be completely blamed. He revealed that the king had once made certain changes in the plans when he had put it before him. Thus, he suggested, that the king was to be blamed for the bad construction of the arch that led to the falling off of the crown.
