How the farming and herding assured the Neolithic man of a continuous supply
of the food ?

Dear student,

Here is your answer:

Around 12,000 years ago, there were major changes in the climate of the world.  This led to the development of grasslands in many areas. This was also a time when wheat, barley and rice grew naturally in different parts of the subcontinent.  Men, women and children at first just collected these grains as food. Later, they learnt to grow them. In this way people became farmers.

People tamed animals by leaving food for them near their shelters. Animals such as sheep, goat, cattle and also the pig that lived in herds were tamed. The first animal to be tamed was the dog. This is how people became herders.

The excessive grain that was produced was stored for both food and seed. Also animals were a source of milk, meat, wool, skin and fur, whenever required. In other words farming and herding assured the Neolithic man of a continuous supply of the food.
