How to bisect an angle and draw the perpendicular bisector of a line segment with compass ?

steps of constructions:

let us divide ∠PQR:

1. place the compass point on the angle's vertex Q.

2. draw an arc across each leg of the angle. let it cuts leg PQ and QR at A and B respectively.

3.  place the compass point at A , and draw an arc.

4. now place the compass point at B, draw an arc on the same side of the arc drawn in step 3.

let it intersects the arc drawn in step 3 at C.

5. join CQ.

thus ∠CQR = 1/2 *∠PQR
