how to construct an equilateral triangle when only its altitute is given

If only altitude is given follow these steps,

Let the altitude of equilateral triangle be h

& side of triangle be a

so a formula is there,

h = √3a / 2

so, a = 2h / √3

By this formul we can get the side of equilateral triangle if altitude is given and can get the triangle contructed.

Let AB be the line  on which you have to draw altitude. Construct altitude of  given length. say the altitude as CD . from C construct an angle of  30 degree on the left side and extend it to intersect line AB. Make an angle of 30 drgree on the right side from c and extend it to touch BA. Thus ur equilateral triangle is formed..

Hope it helps

NOTE : this wasn't copied from any website or anything else , i myself wrote it so plzz thumbs up...

  1. We know that altitde of an equilateral triangle = root3 a2 /4 (where a is the side of the triangle)
  2. so equate the height of altitude with this formula.
  3. this way we get the value of a, i.e., length of the side.
  4. by angle sum property we know that the angle fomes at each end is 600.
  5. so draw a lne AB of length a cm.
  6. constuct an angle of 600 on A as well as on B.
  7. extend lines of both the sides until they intersect at point C.
  8. your triangle is constucted! :D
