How to differentiate between steriodal and non steriodal hormones???

Steroid hormones are derivatives of lipids. They are soluble in lipids and easily diffuse through the cell membranes. E.g. hormones secreted from placenta, ovaries, testis etc. Non-steroid hormones do not solubilise in lipids. They do not diffuse through the cell membranes easily. Two types of non- steroid hormones are- peptide hormones and amino acid derived hormones.
