Dear Student,

This can be explained on the basis of the Mid-point Theorem, which
states that the line joining the mid points of two sides in a
triangle is parallel to the third side and half the length of the
third side

Also, the four triangles formed after joining the mid points of the
sides will be congruent to each other and have equal area So, the
areas of the two fields will be in the ratio of 1:3, since one
field has one triangle and the other has 3 congruent triangles
having equal area
