how to find square root of 35 step by step

Solution: Since is not a perfect a square, we will have to find its value up to three decimal places by using division method as shown below:

STEPS:

  1. Place a bar over every pair of digits starting from the digit at one’s place. Thus we have .
  2. Find the largest number whose square is less than or equal to the number under the extreme left bar. In this case it will be 5. Take this number as the divisor and the quotient with the number under the extreme left bar as the dividend (here 35). Divide and get the remainder (10 in this case).
  3. Bring down the number under the next bar (i.e., 00 in this case) to the right of the remainder. So the new dividend is 1000.
  4. Double the divisor and enter it with a blank on its right.
  5. Guess a largest possible digit to fill the blank which will also become the new digit in the quotient, such that when the new divisor is multiplied to the new quotient the product is less than or equal to the dividend. In this case 109 × 9 = 981.
  6. Repeat the steps 3, 4 and 5 till you get the value up to three decimal places.

Hence, the value of, up to three decimal places is 5.916.
