how to identify a right angled triangle? for example : a triangle's sides measure 40, 30 and 20. is it a right-angled triangle

If the given sides of the triangle satisfy Pythagoras theorem, then we can say that , the given sides are forming a right triangle.

using Pythagoras theorem

sum of squares of sides forming 90 degrees = hypotenuse ( side opp to right angle )

here hypotenuse is 40 ( longest side should be considered as hypotenuse )

the sides forming 90 degrees will be 20 and 30

therefore

20 square + 30 square = 40 square

400 + 900 = 1600

1300 is not equal to 1600

therefore it is not a right triangle

hope it is useful.

cheers :-)
