(b) Why does the shape of the hot  bottle distort when you put cold water on it ?

Here is the complete answer to question number 4) 
(a) Aim: To prove that air exerts pressure.

(b) We can see that the can or the bottle was placed over a burner. When water inside it boils, steam is released that pushes out most of the air from the can or the bottle. When cold water is poured over the can or the bottle, the steam inside condenses, creating a partial vacuum. The air pressure outside is greater than pressure inside and hence the shape of the can or the bottle gets disfigured or distorted. This proves that air molecules present outside apply pressure on the walls of the can or the bottle and cause it to crush.
