how twins are born ????

The birth of twins is not a normal process. In normal process of fertilization, male gamete fuses with female gamete and gives rise to a single diploid zygote. This zygote later on undergoes divisions and develops into an embryo. When this normal process undergoes some alterations then it results in the formation of twins. These altered conditions can be summarised as below:

1. First, where two eggs are fertilized by two separate sperms and give rise to two zygote. Both of these zygotes undergo implantation and develop into embryos. Such twins are called fraternal or dizygotic twins. The gender of these twins may be same or different.

2. Second, when one egg is fertilized by one sperm thereby giving rise to one zygote. This zygote is then split into two in the early gestational period. Such twins are the called identical or monozygotic twins. The gender of these twins is same.

A female has 1 ovum but some have the charestic of having (or sometimes) 2 ova. So 2 sperms fertilise with 2 eggs which will surely give 2 zygote resulting in twins.

hope you got the answer.......cheers!

An egg known as ovum is produced by the reproductive organsof the female between the 10th and the 18th day from the startof menstruation. If a female mates with a male during this period, one of the male sperms enters into the ovum. Thiscombination of ovum and sperm is called fertilization and the female is said to have become pregnant. The woman givesbirth to a child after 280 days. After the conception, sometimes the ovum divides into two parts and these two partsdevelop separately in the womb as two embryos. As a result, such woman gives birth to two children at the same time. The two How are twins bornchildren so produced look similar in their personality. The children will always be either girls or both boys, as both the children are produced from the same ovum. Sometimes two sperms from the male semen enter separately into two ova of the same female. Then two embryos develop in the womb and the woman gives birth to two children.
