How was gulliver made a prisoner ?What effort did he make to free himself and what was the result?

It was during Gulliver’s first voyage that he was made a prisoner. After the shipwreck, he reached an island and slept there for around nine hours. When awakened, he found himself lying on his back and unable to sit up or move at all. His arms and legs were strongly fastened on each side to the ground and his hair was tied down in the same manner. Thus, he was taken down as a prisoner.

He was startled by this sight and so he roared out in an effort to free himself. He soon managed to free his left arm. However, this had an adverse effect as he was then attacked by dozens of tiny arrows into his hand, face, and body until he lied calmly.
