how will you separate a mixture of iron nails, salt, oil and water that is given to you. give the step wise methods to separate each component from this mixture.

1. Iron nails are separated from the mixture by using magnets or even by hand picking.
2. Using decantation method, oil and water can be separated. Oil being lighter forms the upper layer in the beaker and we can decant off the upper layer of oil.
3. The mixture is left with dissolved salt and water. Salt can be obtained from the water by the process of evaporation.
4. The water present in the salt solution will form water vapour and then the salt is left behind.
