Soft water is the water which does not contain calcium and magnesium chlorides and sulphates. It easily forms froth when soap is dissolved in it. In hard water, soap does not form hard water.

1. Take a clean bottle.

3. Add soap solution into the water.
4. Shake the bottle.
5. If froth is formed, then, we can conclude that the given water sample is soft water.
