i am a bit confused with rhombus, trapesim and prism

         PRISM

A solid object with two identical ends and flat sides:

• The sides are parallelograms (4-sided shape with opposites sides parallel)
• The cross section is the same all along its length

The shape of the ends give the prism a name, such as "triangular prism"

It is also a polyhedron.                 ROHMBUS Rhombus Rhombus (Jump to Area of a Rhombus or Perimeter of a Rhombus ) A Rhombus is a flat shape with 4 equal straight sides TRAPESIM Definition of Trapezium more ... A 4-sided flat shape with straight sides and NO parallel sides. (Called a trapezoid in the UK. Both US and UK definitions of Trapezium and trapezoid are swapped over.) See: Trapezoid

Hello Aash

First of all you need to understand that Rhombus and trapezium are two dimensional objects(consisting of only two dimensions), i.e, we can draw these objects on a sheet of paper. On the other hand Prism is three Dimensional object(3-D) and its structure cannot be explained on paper.

RHOMBUS :-

Rhombus is a closed figure having 4 equal sides. This should not be mistaken as a square because there is a slight difference between two of them. In a square all angles are equal to 90 degree( right angles), but in a rhombus all angles are not equal to 90 degree

Here are some properties of rohmbus
  • All 4 sides are equal
  • Opposite sides are parallel to each other ( Parallel lines means lines that will never intersect)
  • Opposite angles are equal to each other
  • The sum of adjacent angles is 180 degree

TRAPEZIUM:-

Trapezium is also a closed figure having 4 equal sides, but in this case 1 pair of opposite sides are parallel to each other while the other pair of opposite sides are not parallel to each other.

Here are some properties of trapezium
  • One pair of opposite sides are parallel
  • Other pair of opposite side is not parallel

PRISM

Prism is a 3-D object formed by putting triangles and rectangles together. A triangular prism look like this:-

I hope that now you are clear with the concept and if you are satisfied with my answer and efforts please give a thumbs up!!!

In plane Euclidean geometry, a rhombus is a simple quadrilateral whose four sides all have the same length. Another name is equilateral quadrilateral, since equilateral means that all of its sides are equal in length.
Area: ½ x (product of the lengths of the diagonals)
Perimeter: 4 x side
Number of vertices: 4
Number of edges: 4
Properties: Isotoxal figure, Convex polygon
Type: Parallelogram, Quadrilateral, Kite
Prisms can be made from any material that is transparent to the wavelengths for which they are designed. Typical materials include glass, plastic, and fluorite. A dispersive prism can be used to break light up into its constituent spectral colors (the colors of the rainbow).
In Euclidean geometry, a convex quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides is referred to as a trapezoid in American and Canadian English but as a trapezium in English outside North America.
Area: ½ x (sum of the lengths of the parallel sides) x perpendicular distance between parallel sides
Perimeter: sum of lengths of sides of trapezoid
Number of vertices: 4
Number of edges: 4
Properties: Convex polygon
Type: Quadrilateral

A Rhombus is a flat shape with 4 equal straight sides.

rhombuses
A rhombus looks like a diamond

right arrow All sides have equal length
right arrow Opposite sides are parallel, and opposite angles are equal (it is a Parallelogram).
right arrow The altitude is the distance at right angles to two sides
right arrow And the diagonals "p" and "q" of a rhombus bisect each other at right angles.

trapezoid (called a trapezium in the UK) has a pair of opposite sides parallel.

And a trapezium (called a trapezoid in the UK) is a quadrilateral with NO parallel sides:

  Trapezoid Trapezium
In the US: a pair of parallel sides NO parallel sides

In the UK: NO parallel sides a pair of parallel sides
(the US and UK definitions are swapped over!)

Rectangular Prism
A solid (3-dimensional) object which has six faces that are rectangles.

It has the same cross-section along a length, which makes it a prism.

It is also a "cuboid".
