For fear that, in order to prevent
 I.e="she tiptoed lest her mother should hear her"

Lest = in case

lest we forget = in case we forget

lest I get lost = in case I get lost

Think u'll get the idea :)

Lest is used when u r saying something in order to prevent something from happening. in most cases lest is followed by should.

ex: She is a talented singer and lest we forget a fine musician as well (= we shouldnot forget she is a fine musician)
