I am posting a doubt which has two images(combined) one is having the question and another images having my approach I understood the solution of the book but where am I wrong plz tell that.
Dear Student,
The maximum voltage rating of the bulb is 6V and itis power rating is 30W. From this data we find out the resistance of the bulb as 1.2 ohms. Now it is to be connected to 120V supply, The third line in your so;ution is wrong. We can't find the resistance by taking the voltage as 120V.If a 6V bulb is connected to 120V, it will be fused. So we neeed to connect a series resistor to the bulb.
In a series connecteion current through the bulb and the resistor will be the same. So we need to find the current I in the bulb using V=6V and P=30W. Now we find the value of Series resistor by using
