I can't understand what's flapper n how n y did laputtians used it...??? plz it's urgent 2 morrow is my eng exam.......!!!!

even  my exam is tomorrow. The servants used to carry a 'flapper' made of a stick with a ballon shaped object tied to the end. Their job was to keep laputians awake because these people were so busy with thoughts of learning and philosophy that they could neither speak nor hear others speaking without being tapped awke with the object.Thumbs up please!!!!!!!
