I couldn't understand the second explanation of conjunction but in chapter common conjunction 1
He is experienced but out of form.
Here, two things are being said about the person. 1. He is experienced. 2. He is out of form.
When we join these two sentences together,their meanings also get joined. While joining we see that they are saying two opposite things- one positive ( Experienced) and the other negative- (out of form). This is why we use the conjunction "But".
