i had asked a question that 'what is the SI unit of work in MKS system?.expert Rahul has answered me that the ANS is 'joule',but when i asked the same question in the rigt hand side ask and answer, which is given in each and every chapter the answer that was given to me was "erg".why?

Joule is the SI unit of work or energy. It is the amount of work done to move an object through a distance of one metre by applying a force of one Newton.

MKS system is

M eter  (m)

K ilogram  (kg)

S econd  (s)

system.

Now,

work done = Force x Displacement = 1 Newton x 1 Meter = (kg m/s²) x (m) = kg m²/s² = 1 Joule

Joule is unit of energy in M K S system while erg is unit or energy in C G S system.

where g is for gram , m for meter and s for second.

I hope this will clear your doubts, if any. Have a nice day.
