1. you can divide the time period as 'before 1947', '1947-1991' and 'since 1991 till today'
2. you can make the comparison based on economic indicators i.e HDI,GDP,growth rate,etc. for the different time periods.
3.you can make the comparison based on social indicators i.e infant mortality rate, death rate, literacy rate, etc. for the different time periods.
