i need a line by line explanation of the poem childhood
Dear student,
The poet is questioning himself about when did he really loose his childhood. He asks if it was the day he turned eleven. Or was it the day he realised hell and heaven were not real places and thus, could not be found on any map.
The poet asks if it was the day when he realised that adults were two faced personalities. Even though they preached love, they did not behave in a loving manner.
The poet questions if he had lost his childhood the day he realised that his mind was his own and he could use it the way he wanted. The day he realised he could produce his own thoughts, which were devoid of any kind of influence.
The poet says that his childhood has gone to a place which has been forgotten by people but the poet knows that the place and his childhood can be found in an infant's face.
Regards
