In the 4th sentence, in the first answer, it means that the speaker and his father after leaving grandma, went to the cinema.
However, in the second example, it means that after the three left from a particular place, they went to the cinema.
In the first statement, only the father and son have gone to the cinema, whereas in the second sentence, all three of them went to the cinema.
