The Sky at Night
The night sky is considered one of the most peaceful things in my life thus far. I love the night sky especially in my backyard but I am absolutely terrified of being outside in my backyard alone. Tonight I decided to go sit outside in the freshman quad and stair up at the sky. Today was a beautiful day out and the night was just as beautiful. For it being early march it was a cool almost summertime night. The Sky was clear, not a cloud to be found anywhere. The sky was a mixture of dark midnight blues and purple. All swirled together to make a beautiful contrasting lights and darks of the night sky. The stars just decorated the sky. It almost looks as if someone took a handful of glitter and just threw it up to the sky. The stars were sparkling and gorgeous. The moon accented the night sky perfectly. It was three quarters full, bright and beautiful. The only draw back to the whole night was that while sitting in the freshman quad I could smell the fowl smells of cigarettes and weed. Besides the smell it was hard to find peace in the moment because there was so many people around talking, yelling and laughing. The noise was loud and disturbing; the smell was fowl and gross, however the sky remained so calm and peaceful through all the disturbances here on earth.
A virtual night sky is a completely different atmosphere. While you face noise disturbances being outside, you can at least get fresh air, besides the fowl smells. To create a peaceful night sky through the computer. You must make the room you are in as dark as possible and sit next to an open window. Then you begin to play the night sky video. Shutting off the lights allows there to be no glare on the computer screen. It also keeps the room dark so the virtual night sky seems a bit more life like. While being outside you face a lot of different noises and smells that can disturb your peacefulness you seek by sitting outside at night. The virtual night sky is so picturesque. Not only is the sky the perfect mixture of a dark midnight blue, but it is also mixed with a light hue of grey, and a beautiful deep purple color. It is all swirled together to make the perfect night sky. The stars are there in the screen, but I found they do not sparkle the way the stars do on a real summer night sky. One of the draw backs of watching a night sky is the moon was no where to be found in the video. However the video was peaceful because it played noises of crickets chirping and the other bugs that make the noises that are normally heard on a calm summer night. Those noises that are distinctive to a summers night is hard to hear during the actual night. Especially if you live on a busy street that cars are always zooming by. However in the video of the night sky you get those noises that instantly brought me back to my childhood of swimming in my pool on a hot summers night.
