(i) State the Hardy-Weinberg principle.
(ii) When there is a disturbance in the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, what would it result in?
(iii) According to this principle, what is the sum total of all allelic frequencies?

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

i. It is a mathematical concept which relates genotypes to allele frequencies. This principle helps to predict how gene frequencies will be inherited from one generation to the others, in a given set of conditions. It states that in a large population which breeds randomly allelic frequencies will remain same, taking an assumption that there is no chance of mutation, selection etc. It is  important as it gives a measure to changes occurring in allele frequencies in a population.

iii. According to this principle, the sum total of all allelic frequencies is 1.
