I want to know all the poetic devices of the poem a tiger in the zoo

Dear Student,

Rhyme scheme:
All the five stanzas of “A tiger in the Zoo” follow the same rhyme scheme – ABCB.
Personification:  In this poem, the poet uses personification with regard to the tiger that is in the poem. The poet mentions the tiger not as “it”, but as “he”.
Metaphor:  Metaphor is used in the 3rd line of the 1st stanza when the poet compares the pads of the tiger’s feet with velvet because both are soft and smooth to the touch.
Metonymy:  Metonymy is used in the 2nd line of the 4th stanza, the poet uses the word “strength” to mean the body of the tiger.
