I want to know how manager's commission is a charge against profit. I mean it must be as it appears in p/l a/c and not in p/l appropriation a/c. I need to confirm why manager's commission is not an appropriation of profit bcoz in cases where there is no profit to the firm how will the firm provide commision to the manager and hence must be treated as appropriation in this case. plzz reply soon... :)

Profit & Loss Appropriation A/c is used to distribute the profits amongst the "Partners".
A "Manager" is not a partner of the firm, he's an employee, and thus, his commission is treated just like salary i.e as a charge against profits.
Remember: Commission of a "Partner" would be an appropriation and hence, debited to P & L Appropriations A/c (Provided only in case of profits).

If there is no profit, Manager's commission would still be paid and the Partners/Company will have to bear the loss.

how are you saying that even in case of loss(or no profit) manager would be paid his commision...you are totally wrong in this matter dude.. coz why would we like to pay manager his commision if he is not working as deaired by him..Remember its always said to pay managers commision on net profit...( eg. provide managers commision 10% on net profit after charging his commision). It is well understood fact that according to managers performance net profit of a firm will change which gives him the incentive to perform better and if he dont and there is no profit then why would we give commission to him..Its just like giving salary to a salesperson or an Lic agent..if he sell more product he will get more salary or commission whatsoever...bht back to discussion....If there is loss or no profit to the firm then we wont pay manager hia commission...and thus managers commission should be called as appropriation instead of charge against profit...
hoping for a quick reply..
plzz help and tell me what is managers commission after all..???
