Monday, August 3, 2015. 9 p.m. Dear Diary, The water rose in a gigantic wave that fanned itself like a serpent's hood and crashed over us. There was nothing around us but water. The beach and the sea had become one and the same. The hotel was nowhere to be seen and as I struggled to hold on to something, I realized that my coworkers had slipped away. We were in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to distribute food and medicines amongst the tsunami victims. One minute I was on the beach with the other volunteers and the very next minute, our world came crashing down in a gigantic wave. |
