identify the objectives and functions of ICMR

ICMR stands for Indian Council of Medical Research. ​ICMR is an organisation under Ministry of Health and facilitates various institutes under the health sector. Such organisations aims at better health facilities which are affordable by all. ​ICMR also works for promoting research. ​ICMR is the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research. It looks after the research programmes in science, expertise and infrastructure in different departments of Medical Colleges, Universities and other non-ICMR Research Institutes. Thus, it is the body that governs the research programmes in science in India.
