Identify the three types of cells found in the stomach

Dear student,
The three types of cells in stomach mucosa are:
Mucous cells: The cells produce mucus to cover the epithelium and prevent acid corrosion on the mucosa of the stomach.
Parietal cells: also known as oxyntic cells, these produce hydrochloric acid. This reduces the pH of the stomach fluids for activation of enzymes and destruction of microorganisms in the ingested food.
Chief cells: These cells release Gastric juice containing enzymes like pepsin and rennin.
