The given matrix equation is,a+b25ab = 6258By the definition of
equality of matrices, we geta + b = 6 1ab = 8 2from 1, we get b = 6
- aputting the value of b in 2, we geta6 - a = 8⇒6a - a2 =
8⇒a2 - 6a + 8 = 0⇒a2 - 4a - 2a + 8 = 0⇒aa - 4 -
2a - 4 = 0⇒a - 2 a - 4 = 0⇒a - 2 = 0 or a - 4 = 0
⇒a = 2 or a = 4when a = 2 , then b = 6 - 2 = 4when a = 4,
then b = 6 - 4 = 2
