if (a,b) belongs to R but (b,c) doesn't belong to R then R is transitive or not?

Dear student, if (a,b)and (b,c)are in a relation such that ,(a,c) is also present then this relation is called transitive. But according to your doubt (a,b) is in relation but (b,c) is not present , so we can not say it is transitive or not unless we check other ordered pairs in relation. Regards
