If a is -35, b is 10 and c is -5, verify that :
a x (b+c) is equal to a x b+a x c

Solution
Given: a = - 35, b = 10 and c = - 5
LHS,
          a × (b + c)
= (- 35) × [10 + (- 5)]
= (- 35) × (10 - 5) {because (+) sign × (-) sign = (-) sign}
= (- 35) × (5)
= - 175.....(1)
RHS,
         a × b + a × c
=(- 35) × (10) + (- 35) × (- 5)
= - 350 + (- 35 × - 5) {because (-) sign × (-) sign = (+) sign}
= - 350 + 175
= - 175......(2)
Therefore, from (1) and (2),
LHS = RHS
