if autoimmunity causes any harm to the body ? plz explain autoimmunity more clearly

auto immunity is a condition in which our immune system cannot differntiate self and non-self cells and hence start killing own cells so definitely it cause harm to the body as it becomes unable to kill pathogens which causes diseases to us.
